"Congratulations! You are admitted to the University of Oregon for the Fall 2009 term. By applying to the University of Oregon, you have chosen an institution with a tradition of excellence; by admitting you, we continue that tradition.

The enclosed materials provide information about preparing for the term. Please note..."

When I woke up this past Friday, it seemed like any other. It was the end of another long week, and the beginning of a long weekend that would inevitably end with yet another long (and busy) week. My mind screamed out, "Will this bloody effing cycle end?" The world replied back, "Hell no, get used to it."

So, I did.

I got up and showered, then went about my normal routine of dressing and making sure I had everything in my bag. A few minutes passed before I was done, and heard my mother honking her car horn. My mom had agreed to give me a ride to school so we could discuss some upcoming birthday parties, and the plans surrounding them.

So, I got into her car and noticed that she had a huge smile on her face. I asked her what was going on, because usually she's smiling...but not, figuratively, like an idiot. She promptly handing me a letter from one of the University's I had applied to and told me, rather excitedly, "Open it, open it!"

So, puzzled by her strange attitude and how she knew what it was, I did.

It turns out that my rather late timed decision to apply to a college in state was a good one; the letter stated that I was accepted fall admission, contingent upon my successful completion of my current academic programs.Barring any unforeseen circumstances I plan on successfully and with flourish, completing my degree's here.

I was shocked to say the least. I had always wanted to attend the school. I remember being five or six years old and telling my my mother that I was going to go to that school one day. However, after some events happened - I doubted I ever would get in. I persevered though, and was successful.

So, forgive me if I seem super excited, it's because of this that I am.

Now that the fun part is over - there's the ugly and difficult part, taking care of what it will cost. Wish me well; I will definitely need luck with financial aid and what not.

P.S. It turns out that my mother had been sorting out the mail (I get my mail at her place) the day before and noticed the envelope with the letter in it. Naturally, she put it in my pile, but noticed the "Congratulations!" as it peeked through the plastic see through part on the envelope. She grabbed it and tried to peek; she then spent the next few hours debating on whether or not looking in it. She, as a mother, was ecstatic and was confident of what it was, but didn't want to invade my privacy. (I wasn't concerned; she's my mother, and it wasn't like it was some credit card bill) Mother's are funny sometimes.
